Auto Net Connect For BSNL Night Unlimited Plan Users

Auto Internet Connect at 2 AM & Disconnect at 8 AM

Try this method:
First Step:
Create two batch files
1)
Open notepad type the following:
rasdial [connection name] [user name] [password]
for example
rasdial broadband myusername mypassword
save the above file as connect.bat
2)
Open notepad type the following
rasdial [connection name] /disconnect
for example
rasdial broadband /disconnect
save the above file as disconnect.bat
Second Step:
1. Go to START>ACCESSORIES>SYSTEM TOOLS>SCHEDULE TASK
Schedule task wizard will start>click next
2. Click “Browse” and select “connect.bat“
3. Type the task name (anything you want) and then select “Daily“.Now to configure how to run it during Night Unlimited.
Click Next.
Now set the start time to something like say….2.05 a.m.
Set Everyday from the Perform this task option right below that and start date to today’s date.
Click Next
Enter your username and pass on the Next page.
Click Finish.

Update: It does work. I’ve been using it for two weeks now and have no problems at all.

FLV Player for downloaded files from Youtube

I was a big fan of Naruto and in the beginning when I started to download it, I didn’t the the proper sites to download. So I used the Download Helper addon for firefox and and started downloading the files in the .flv format. Media Player Classsic plays the Youtube and Myspace video files properly with the Codec Pack installed, but does not play the downloaded files from other sites like Megavideo and Veoh.

So I started finding another flash video player that plays all kinds of .flv files. I found ANVSOFT WEB FLV PLAYER. This is a good player that plays all kinds of flash video files and gives no problem of navigation or maximize minimize problems like the other flv players.

My favorite Firefox Theme

One of my favorite Firefox theme is Nasa Night Launch. I like this theme very much because of the black look it has which is kind of unique from the other black themes like Pitch dark and Redshift(firefox 2 only).

Other favourite addons include Walnut ,Noia 2.0 extreme.

Night Unlimited on BSNL

When I changed my broadband plan, I had loads of ideas about the stuff I download in my night unlimited plan from 2am to 8am. But even half of that is not accomplished since my college has started which a bit to far from my home. So I have to leave home early in the morning at 7am. So the only time I get to download is from 5.30 am to 7am.

Even though the speed is very high, parallel downloads only take 500 to 600 MB average per day which is very less than my expectation. My record was 3 GB when I downloaded from 2 am to 7am. I am trying to sleep early everyday so that I can get up early to download now.

Currently I am downloading  the Naruto Cartoon series whose season ended just a month back in cartoon network and I don’t have enough patience to wait for a new season.

Webshots Desktop — What a crap!!!!

I downloaded the Webshots Desktop Software from Download.com yesterday since I have heard a lot about it from my friends who use it change wallpapers frequently.

But it turned out to be a total disappointment since there were lots of bugs in the software. When I use the Ctrl-Alt-W keyboard shortcut to use the change wallpaper option sometimes the wallpaper changes and sometimes it does not.

WHAT A CRAP FOR A SOFTWARE!!!!

I download a lots of stuff lately waking up early at 5.30AM in the morning since my broadband plan is changed. So I can try some other better softwares.

BSNL Plan change from Home 250 to Home 500C – 2

My plan change was supposed to change on today in the morning when I checked my account usage in Dataone site, I was pretty much shocked to see that the current plan was till Home 250.
So I called the Telephone Exchanged and asked the JE about the when the change of the plan is going to take place. He asked me to call 1957 ( which I later knew that was the Customer Care number for the Broadband enquiries and complaints ) and ask them. So I called the number and he guy in the Customer care replied that the Plan Change was going to take place in the evening and I will have to wait till then.

In the evening the plan was updated and shifted to the 500c plan. Take a look at the screenshot.

I have been wondering about the Antirookit protection that is being provided in the Avast Home Edition. There is no separate engine for that hence I have been trying to find some evidence about its working.

SMPS Problem……

My computer was not getting started….. So I called the computer guy who told me that the SMPS is not working properly. He gave me a spare one and told me that he will replace mine when mine is repaired.

This explains all the crashes I was having when the computer just shuts down without a warning when I was working.

My computer guy also found something wrong with the UPS and today I got a call from him saying that the UPS cannot be repaired.

Now I have to buy a new UPS. It cost around Rs.2200 it seems.
