Windows Xp…. Is it the End???
I found this today.
Microsoft Corp is scheduled to stop selling its Windows XP operating system to retailers and major computer makers today, despite protests from a slice of PC users who don’t want to be forced into using XP’s successor, Vista.
Is it the end of the road for Xp? I always liked Xp compared to Vista.(I don’t have enough system requirements to even try it.)
But good news is that Microsoft is providing full technical support through 2009 which means that the Software and Hardware providers will design products for Windows Xp till that time.
Delicious Bookmarks Addon For Firefox
I got its very good addon that was delicious Bookmarks addon for Firefox which was very good. Previously I was using Scribefire for the Delicious Bookmarking but a bug in it forced me to switch to a new addon. Not only adding bookmarks but viewing them and sorting the tags is also an easy process now.
50 posts completed
This is my 51st post and I am writing this post to commemorate the half century of this blog.
Very well I started 3 months ago and tried to keep all my opinions as well as my thoughts in this blog.
I was not expecting much but still what I got was much more than expectation.
SMS Thought 1
I got this in an SMS.
2 Things that indicate WEAKNESS
- To be silent when its the right time to speak.
- To speak when its the right time to be silent.
VTU Joke 1
Student at a medical shop: I need poison.
Chemist: I can’t sell you that.
Student shows his VTU Syllabus book.
Chemist: Oh! Sorry. I didn’t know you had a prescription.
Firefox 3…When will the addons be ready????
I tried switching to Firefox 3 but still no updates for two addons namely
Tab Mix Plus and Febe.
The version of Febe that was designed for Firefox 3 is in beta and has loads of bugs. I just hope that the addons will be updated soon and I can switch to Firefox 3 very soon.
Updated Avast… Thanks to incremental updates
Its been over 3 weeks since I have updated my Avast Antivirus software and hence I decided to update it today.
It was just a matter of a minute or so.. All I had to do was to select the update iAVS button and the incremental update process will start.
Speaking of incremental updates I remembered a Software I was using previously… It was the Kaspersky Antivirus v7. I was very disappointed with its updates. Even after giving such a nice scanning engine. If we miss weekly update then there is no choice other than downloading the cumulative.zip that took around 17MB of download.
Incremental has two obvious advantages
- It will save a lot of download time since we don’t have to download the whole package again.
- It will also save Bandwidth for Internet users like me who pay Internet Bill on the Bandwidth Transfer rather than Time taken online.
Control Systems became out of control
Today we had the Control Systems exam. A lengthy and a very difficult exam I had for a long long time( It was last sem when I had something like this when I had to write the FT exam).
I actually had a 3 days of holiday for this exam but still the history of VTU Difficult Control Systems Exam continues………
I have written answers for question upto 60 marks and hope I pass the exam.
My Comp’s Day Out
All started on a nice day when I was working on my PC( Just joking. I was playing games on PC that time) and this thing happened.
The PC suddenly turned off. Repeated attempts by me to turn it on were futile. Like every other idiot ( Now I’m thinking) I decided to call the computer guy.
After waiting whole yesterday and today afternoon the guy turned up here today evening at 7pm (These guys really work around the clock) and just cleaned up the processor and RAM. At that time the computer started and worked fine( It didn’t work when yesterday I did the same thing!!!! I think my comp’s alive and just hates me. I think that’s because I kit the keys very hard). The reason he told me was that moisture had accumulated in the RAM and that made it stop booting.
I had to pay Rs.200 for that (previously it was Rs.150. Looks like inflation is affecting everything!!!
Yesterday whole day was a break for my computer which it didn’t have for a long long time.!!!!
Control Systems Exam
VTU Control Systems exam!!! If you are not a VTU Student then you won’t understand what exactly I mean.
It is one of the subjects most students cannot clear in a single attempt. Subject is easy and the topics are limited (from point of view of the text book prescribed by the VTU). But the exam papers are complicated and difficult to crack.
Why I am talking about it now? Because I am going to write the exam on Saturday. I just hope I clear it in the first attempt.
I am working really hard for it (wasting my time writing this blog entry). But it should be a nice experience. After the very good Engg Maths 4 exam, I am looking forward for a challenge.
